Veteran’s Day is Fast Approaching

One of our customers was kind enough to share the story that goes with the framed shorts shown above.

“When Singapore fell to the Japanese Army in WWII, my father was a Lieutenant in the British Royal Artillery. Like all allies in Singapore, both military and civilian, he was taken prisoner. Some of the multitude of native and allied prisoners at this time were sent to work building a railroad between Thailand and Burma, a railroad made famous by the movie “The Bridge on the River Kwai.” Over 100,000 people died in the construction of this railway. And although my father spent time at one of those work camps and suffered unimaginable beatings, dysentery, malaria, tropical diseases, near starvation and various ailments associated with malnutrition, he did survive.”
